"The deal is done". Friday April 15  2011 is a historical date for Roma: The deal that will see American businessman Thomas DiBenedetto purchase Roma has been signed today in Boston, subject to regulatory approval.

There was a press conference after the preliminary agreement was signed. Di Benedetto and Paolo Fiorentino of Unicredit (that owns 40% of the club) announced the deal. DiBenedetto said: "It's done, the negotiation was long and difficult but we we never gave up. We solved all the issues thanks to our determination and the great work of the bank. I am aware of the great passion in Rome, but I did not expect all this attention. I thank Berlusconi for his nice welcome, our target is to win with Roma as much as he won with Milan. From Boston I'll bring to Rome the Red Sox stadium. With the financial fair-play, it is important to let the young players grow and have players from Rome in the team. Acquiring strong players will be difficult even for important clubs, therefore I have the best advisors and we'll attract the best players to come to us. I am pround of my roots, I love Rome a great deal and I want to do something for this city".
